Q1) In the last line, what did the writer mean by suggesting that “he may have found more porcupines than rats?”
He used the animals "porcupines" and "rats" as meterfores that is used to lable people."Porcupines" are people who are courageous and are not afraid of a fight."Rats" are people that are easily scared and runs away at the first hint of trouble.
Hence,the writer is suggesting that this year,there are more courageous people inside Singapore's Total Defence platoon.
